Hello
For half a century, I have been afraid to label myself a writer, a painter, a thinker, a photographer, and an artist. At 56 years of age, I'll embrace these new labels as proudly as I have the old: married, gay, Southerner. Here, at www.JAIARE.com, I'll share these until now dormant parts of myself.
My Story
I found my home in the healing shade of Sacramento California when I was 19 years old, until then unmoored and always moving. Having sold everything I owned to purchase a Greyhound bus ticket, my entire wardrobe in a brown paper, grocery bag, with twenty dollars cash to my name, I left my home in the South (Louisiana and then Texas) to settle at the confluence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers, quickly spreading across the basin like the delta itself, living in many of the vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, soaking into the soil and becoming a part of this great city.
I hope that you find enjoyment, knowledge, inspiration, challenge or just humor on my site. It's in its infancy and still being formed. Hardly viable and with no plan b, I submit this offspring into the ethereal arms of the universe, ever expanding, ever living, ever dying and ever mystifying and changing.
I sincerely hope to hear from some of you. I look forward to your feedback, encouragement, support and criticism.
Thanks,
James, owner
